Joan Mayer took to the podium after an introduction by Sandy Stults of The Bluegrass Heritage Museum.

She began her talk by explaining why she decided to write a book and went on to share stories from her life with the audience.

The local audience laughed and nodded as her stories unfolded. Her family has lived in Clarke County since the early 1800s.
