Photos from the event on January 12 at The Bluegrass Heritage Museum.
The museum saw one of the largest crowds ever for a Second Thursday program.
It was a varied crowd that attended the first book signing. and talk.
Joan Mayer took to the podium after an introduction by Sandy Stults of The Bluegrass Heritage Museum.
She began her talk by explaining why she decided to write a book and went on to share stories from her life with the audience.
The local audience laughed and nodded as her stories unfolded. They came from many walks of life and many knew Joan personally from her work on local boards and committees, from The Iroquois Hunt Club or through her many family connections. Her family has lived in Clarke County since the early 1800s.
After her talk Joan signed books for a long line of attendees. The books were sold by the Museum and they sold their entire supply that evening.
Old friends and new were in line to surprise the author.
Of Family and Place is once again in stock at The Bluegrass Heritage Museum.
